Re: Difference between Policy.Sync.exe and PolicySync.exe

Ah ok, makes sense as to why you would be getting an error. Updating that VB will fix that. Of course, you may need to build in some login to handle both file names, until you migrate all client to 9.6 or newer

Any idea on below services if they also changed to something in 9.6an above as they are also missing from my machine:

LANDesk Policy Invoker &Intel Targeted Multicast

2015/06/10 11:43:33 AM - Checking that required services are running.

*** The service "LANDesk Policy Invoker" does not exist.

The service "ISSUSER" exists and is running.

The service "CBA8" exists and is running.

The service "Softmon" exists and is running.

*** The service "Intel Targeted Multicast" does not exist.

"LANDesk Policy Invoker" no longer exists and "Intel Targeted Multicast" is named "LANDesk Targeted Multicast"

Is SP1 a prerequisite for SP2

My management just asked me that.  I said I believe so, and I would install SP1 first out of conscience.  Not good enough - I have to verify the answer.  I haven't found it addressed in any documentation so I'm coming to the experts

Is SP1 a prerequisite for SP2?

Auto Sync (Changes to configurations)

I changed some settings in my Portal Manager in Agent Settings, this is part of a deployed Agent Configuration, after I saved the changes, how do I push those changes to the clients?

I set the auto sync to Yes, in both the Portal Configuration an in the Agent Configuration, do I have to wait x amount of time for the changes to be sync? Or auto sync is for a complete different task?

I ran a update to agent settings task which ran successfully, but the changes to the portal are not reflected. Any idea?

Thank you!

Changes made to an existing agent setting will sync on the next vulscan, Or you can schedule a "change settings task" from the agent settings section, choose the setting you want to change and add machines that you need to apply them to

Great, manually running the vulscan worked.

The machines are connected via CSA so the schedule is "king" unless manually triggered.

Thank you for your help.

LDMS 9.6 SP2

When deploying a new agent (local, with in my network) I keep getting the same mysterious IP for EVERY new device I cant seem to be able to find why. This IP is not even in my network, which starts with 192.168....

Please help.

What do you have set in Configure - Services - Inventory - Advanced Settings - Use Connection Address?

By default this should be set to '1' so it will try to use the correct IP rather than the one that the information is coming from (such as in a NAT environment). Might be worht checking what this is set to.

Hello Mark, yes that is set to 1, it was working fine, I had several clients with the right IP, but now all the new ones are getting the same wrong IP.

When upgrading from 9.6 to 9.6 SP1, will my agent configurations be retained? Will I have to recreate my agent configurations?

I understand I have to update my agents, but do I have to recreate them?  For instance if I have two different agents, one that includes power management and endpoint security, and another that does not, will these agents have to be recreated?

No, they will still be there during an in-place upgrade

Just chiming in to see if these are the same steps I should take in 9.6? We are planning to install the agent and security suite onto our Windows 7 Virtual Desktops in Citrix.

LDMS 9.6 SP2 via CSA

After deploying agent, I can not access the machine (Remote or ping or anything) It is added however to all devices in the core.

When testing the BrokerConfig.exe I get this error:

I can ping the csa from the machine.

I have an open ticket for a few days now but I need to have this fix asap!

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

It is failing to get to the core.

Make sure the agent is using a valid core name

Make sure the broker service is connected to the CSA from the Core (login to csa > reports > connection table)

make sure the correct .0 file is on the agent

Following on from the previous answer (which I agree with), you should always review them to understand what decisions may have been taken regarding new/updated functionality. The upgrade will take what you have and update it, but it has to assume a default where there was not previously a setting.

So just worth a quick run-through to be certain whenever you do an update.
